ANNUAL RFP UPDATES:

1. Canine annual health RFP is open topic for all grant mechanisms: Established Investigator (EI), First Award (FA), Pilot Study (PS) and Fellowship Training (FT). This RFP also includes the opportunity for a Rod Page Fellowship Training grant focused on canine cancer research. The RFP will solicit abbreviated pre-proposals with select applicants only invited to submit a full proposal.
2. Wildlife annual health RFP (EI/FA/PS) topic: Open topic focused on taxa rotating on a 3-year cycle.   The RFP will solicit abbreviated pre-proposals with select applicants only invited to submit a full proposal.
   1. FY26 – Mammals (opens late 2025)
   2. FY27 – Avian/fish/invertebrates 
   3. FY28 – Reptiles/amphibians
3. Wildlife annual Fellowship Training, Feline annual health (all grant mechanisms) and Equid annual health (all grant mechanisms) RFPs are open topic and will undergo a 2-stage full proposal review process.
4. Resubmission summaries are now required. Resubmissions are permitted across all RFPs without written invitation if the research topic is within the specific scope of the RFP. Applicants planning to resubmit are expected to consider and incorporate reviewer feedback in their new submission.
5. Fellowship Training budget and applicant qualifications have been revised.
   1. PhD students who will have completed the first two years of their program by the expected start date of their project are now eligible to apply for Fellowship Training grants. See details in the proposal guidelines for each RFP.
   2. We have revised our budget guidelines to establish a minimum salary and allow flexibility in the use of the remaining grant funds. 

ANIMAL WELFARE UPDATES:

1. The Foundation has released new guidelines for client consent forms. If your study involves client owned animals, please utilize these guidelines when preparing your client consent form. Include the comprehensive form in your proposal.
2. The proposal guidelines will now include updated guidance for choosing USDA categories in our Animal Involvement Justification form (AIJ).
