DENVER/April 29, 2021 – Morris Animal Foundation was named the winner of a Gold Stevie® Award in the category Achievement in Management in the 19th Annual American Business Awards® announced today.

The Foundation also was named a winner of the Bronze Stevie Award in the category Most Valuable Nonprofit Response, a category honoring exemplary leadership in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

“The American Business Awards are one of the nation’s premiere business award programs, and we are honored to be recognized by such a respected group and in such prestigious company,” said Tiffany Grunert, President/CEO of Morris Animal Foundation. “Our leadership team and staff members have worked hard, particularly during a challenging year, to keep the Foundation’s mission of helping animals have, longer healthier lives as our North Star, while keeping our staff safe, healthy and thriving through change.”

Nicknamed the Stevies for the Greek word meaning “crowned,” the awards will be virtually presented to winners during a live event on Wednesday, June 30.

More than 3,800 nominations from organizations of all sizes and in every industry were submitted this year for consideration in a wide range of categories, including Startup of the Year, Executive of the Year, Best New Product or Service of the Year and Marketing Campaign of the Year, among others.

The Achievement in Management Award recognized the Foundation’s leadership team, as it strived to build a dynamic, thriving workplace focused on mission and people. The Foundation embarked on a program of thoughtful change to dramatically improve operations, increase employee morale, elevate the impact of science and enhance community reputation. Through strategic culture change, the team reduced employee turnover by 30%, moving from a high annual rate of 38% to a below-industry average of 8%.

The Most Valuable Nonprofit Response recognized the Foundation’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic by putting employee health and well-being first, building new programs to support health and well-being, ensuring the Foundation’s financial stability through conservative fiscal management, all while moving ahead with mission-focused programs in animal health.

“This year’s Stevie-winning nominations in the American Business Awards are testament to the ingenuity, the commitment, the passion, the adaptability and the creativity of the American people,” said Stevie Awards president Maggie Gallagher. “We look forward to celebrating this year’s winners during our virtual ceremony on June 30.”
