DENVER/July 24, 2020 – Morris Animal Foundation, a nonprofit leader in advancing animal health, has been named as one of Denver Business Journal's 2020 Best Places to Work.

The annual Best Places to Work awards highlight companies in the Denver area whose operations are providing the best workplace environments. Employees for each nominated company are asked to complete an employee engagement survey which covered topics such as team effectiveness, trust in senior leaders, feeling valued, manager effectiveness, compensation and benefits.

“We truly are honored by this recognition, particularly as it comes during a challenging time when many organizations are striving to find their footing in a radically changed business landscape,” said Tiffany Grunert, Morris Animal Foundation President and CEO. “Our leadership team and Board of Trustees believe in collaboratively creating a positive workplace where people feel valued, cared for and respected. As an organization, we constantly strive to live up to our core values and bring them into practice in all of our efforts.”

Like many other organizations and businesses, the Foundation’s staff is working from home during the COVID-19 pandemic and finding creative ways to stay connected. They use virtual meeting platforms for regular check-ins and meetings, including most recently an international scientific advisory board meeting, as well as for virtual happy hours, holiday parties and game times. Staff also use an interactive messaging platform to share pet pictures, fun updates and humorous digital content, along with the Question of the Day to learn more about each other and discover areas of common interest.

Guiding the way through it all are the Foundation’s six core values - excellence, respect, compassion, collaboration, innovation and determination – that are at the heart of the organization’s culture and are the guideposts for staying true to its mission.

“I want to thank our Board of Trustees for their vision and support to improve our talent management through our strategic plan. Their vision was to recruit and maintain the best employees to achieve our mission. Now, our wonderful staff is empowered and has built an amazing culture, where the norm is to continually improve and grow as a highly effective team,” Grunert said. “It’s amazing what you can do when you have an aligned team working toward the same mission. Certainly, in our case, it has advanced the health of animals around the world in very meaningful ways.”

The Foundation, along with other awardees, will be honored at the 2020 Best Places to Work virtual awards celebration on July 30.

Morris Animal Foundation is one of the largest nonprofit animal health research organizations in the world, funding more than $155 million in studies across a broad range of species.
