DENVER/November 11, 2021 – Morris Animal Foundation staff is celebrating the third anniversary of its veterinary podcast, Fresh Scoop. The podcast features researchers and other animal health experts discussing diverse topics of interest to veterinarians, veterinary students, veterinary technicians, and animal-loving science geeks!
“We’re very proud of the podcast,” said Dr. Kelly Diehl, Senior Director of Science and Communication and the podcast’s host. “We’re glad we can lift up the terrific work of our researchers and other Foundation supporters.”
The podcast first aired on November 10, 2018, with an episode devoted to the Foundation’s Golden Retriever Lifetime Study. Since then, the podcast has covered subjects as diverse as chronic wasting disease in wildlife, epilepsy in dogs, obesity in horses and kidney disease in cats.
“Our founder, Dr. Mark Morris Sr., was passionate about education,” said Diehl. “Dr. Morris wanted to give veterinarians and other animal caretakers the latest health information as a way to improve the lives of animals. The podcast is one piece of our educational outreach.”
The podcast airs once monthly and can be found on iTunes, Spotify, Google Podcasts and Stitcher. Episodes also can be accessed on the Foundation’s website.
“We’re one of the few podcasts devoted exclusively to discussing the science of animal health,” said Diehl. “We want to provide accurate, well-curated and timely information to help pet parents and veterinary care teams keep the pets in their care happy and healthy.”
