Statistics show that approximately 50% of horses are overweight or obese. A few of the  health consequences associated with these conditions include laminitis, exercise intolerance and equine metabolic syndrome. Researchers will investigate if being overweight or obese affects fertility in stallions. The team will collect blood and semen samples as well as body condition measurements on fit and overweight/obese horses. The new information will help owners, caretakers and veterinarians improve health management of horses.
