Advanced glycation ends (AGEs) are proteins or lipids that bond to sugar molecules. These diet-related biomarkers are thought to be associated with aging and many degenerative diseases in people, including diabetes, chronic kidney disease and cognitive decline. However, little is known about AGEs and their association with the health and aging dogs. Researchers will review pet food data from the Golden Retriever Lifetime Study. The team hopes to learn more about AGEs in dogs as it relates to aging, body condition, diets, and disease states. The data generated will inform future studies.
