Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) are commonly used for pain management in many species. However, few NSAIDs have been studied in elephants and dosing often is extrapolated from other mammals. Researchers will compare the safety and effectiveness of two commonly used NSAIDs in Asian and African elephants and establish scientifically based dosing regimens to control pain in these species.
