The bone remodeling drug tiludronate (Tildren®) is used to treat a wide range of orthopedic diseases in horses. However, little is known about the direct impact of this class of drugs on the equine skeleton. Researchers will evaluate the effect of clinically applicable doses of tiludronate on bone remodeling and healing in horses. Data generated will guide veterinarians regarding the best use of this drug and related drugs, including clodronate or OSPHOS®, to treat orthopedic diseases in horses.
