It takes science to stop cancer, ease pain, cure diseases and even lengthen lifespans. Support science to save your best friend.
Every donation gets us closer to the scientific breakthroughs that will help our best friends live their best (and longest) lives.
They’re not with us long enough. Most of the world’s scientific health research funding is dedicated to people, or animal issues that impact people. When it comes to helping the dogs we love live longer, healthier lives, there is a lack of financial support.
WHY YOU MATTER
Most of the world’s health research funding is dedicated to people, or animal issues that impact people (such as food production or models for human disease). When it comes to helping the dogs we love live longer, healthier lives, there is a serious lack of funding. That’s why we rely on dog lovers like YOU for critical support.
WHAT WE DO
We work to improve and protect the health of animals worldwide through scientific
research, discovery and innovation. Since 1950, we've invested over $55 million toward 1,160+ innovative canine health studies. We’ve helped more than
76 million dogs, from research that contributed to the parvovirus vaccine, to genetic
tests for heart diseases, eye diseases and seizure disorders. We also are at the forefront
of cancer studies in dogs, including hemangiosarcoma, lymphoma and osteosarcoma.
In fact, we are leading the largest and most comprehensive prospective study ever
undertaken in veterinary medicine: the Golden Retriever Lifetime Study. What we
learn from this breed (that tends to see high rates of cancer), will benefit ALL dogs —
identifying risk factors associated with development of cancer and other major
health issues.
