Our 11 year old Lab heeler mix, our “redheaded girl”, was diagnosed with osteosarcoma in December, 2017. After an amputation of her left hind leg, where the cancer originated, and two different types of chemotherapy, she did remarkably well…until we heard her cough one night. An X-ray showed the cancer had metastasized to her lungs, which had previously been clear. Then we noticed a swelling of a lymph node on her front left limb. In spite of additional chemotherapy treatment, our beloved rescue was beginning to fail, despite our efforts to get her to eat whatever might appeal to her.
On May 25, 2018, a mobile veterinarian from Caring Pathways, came to our home and helped us to help our girl cross the Rainbow Bridge. Her adoring sister, a German shepherd rescue, was with us as we said “until we meet again”. 💔🐾

Peaches
Pledge
I had to out my best friend Peaches down Feb 8th 2025 after we found out she had cancer and that there was no treatment for her. It's broken my heart every day since finding out she had cancer in her lungs and putting her down has been the hardest thing I've ever had to do. I pray there comes a day when cancer in pets will not always mean a death sentence so no one else has to go through this. The heartbreak hurt so much I thought it would kill me, there has to be more options for future pets to survive such a traumatizing diagnosis.
