DENVER/May 23, 2022 — Morris Animal Foundation today announced a new funding opportunity for studies that address specific canine health topics. The Foundation is accepting proposals focused on common health issues affecting dogs: canine periodontal disease, otitis externa, obesity and anal sac disease (excluding cancer).
Proposals must address specific areas within these topics and should have a strong emphasis on situations seen in primary care practices and shelters unless otherwise indicated.
“For 2023, the Foundation has a particular focus on the top issues facing primary-care veterinary practitioners,” said Dr. Janet Patterson-Kane, Morris Animal Foundation Chief Scientific Officer. “We a’re excited to give the scientific community an opportunity to study issues that impact so many dog owners and that, in the past, have tended to be underfunded areas of canine health research.”
Applications will be reviewed and rated, based on impact and scientific rigor, by a scientific advisory board made up of subject matter experts. Interested researchers can find additional information, including award types and funding levels at Morris Animal Foundation Apply for a Grant.
