Shanahan and Sammy
Forever in our hearts
Shanahan and Sammy, both rescued from GRRAND in Cincinnati OH, were the light of our lives for the better part of a decade. Sweet, fun, and intelligent, they loved each other and they loved us. Shanahan died from splenic cancer on August 24th, 2015 after surviving for 10 good months after the initial diagnosis/treatment. Sammy had soft tissue sarcoma in 2013 but surgery had eliminated it completely...until it or another form of cancer returned and he died on November 2nd, 2015 just 10 weeks after we lost Shanahan. It was an awful time for us but we are grateful for our years with them and we are grateful to the Morris Animal Foundation's Golden Retriever Lifetime Study for researching ways to treat or eliminate cancer. Thank you for the work you do!
