Patch

Never Forgotten

Patch was a rescue dig that appeared to be a flatcoated retriever.  He had fatty tumors. They were xrayed and aspirated. Vet called with results and appeared to be all OK.  We had a wonderful spring day.

Next day he had difficulty getting out of bed but appeared ok. Then he would not eat or drink.  Wouldn't eat treat.  Stared at me.  Then breathing heavy and drooling.  Would sit or lay down.  Just stood looking at me. Then he went to door and collapsed.  Saw a red area. Touch it and he snapped at me.  I cut fur and saw large swollen mass.  Took to hospital. Kept him and had tests ran.  He never came home.  So fast.  Shocking.  Traumatic.

The journey through grief is different for everyone, but we know support, community and sharing stories help make the experience one of remembrance, renewal and even celebration of the life lost. We hope you find comfort in the memorial you’ve set up for your companion and encourage you to share with family and friends so they can show their love and support.
