Praise For Mr. Gray
Praise for Mr. Gray.
Because he is the smallest cat
yet rules the house.
Because he has a coat so soft
it makes silk seem rough.
Because he has luminous eyes.
Because eh clearly communicates his desires.
Because he suffers arthritis
but keeps moving.
Because, like me, he likes yogurt.
Because he appeared
one winter evening
in the back yard
and when we fed him
he brought a friend
to share the bounty.
Because he’s a cat
and that’s almost enough.
