Carl
Forever in our hearts
Carl, the coolest Barn Cat ever. Abandoned by his first family, he quickly came in, taking over a shed row of horses and all their owners, even though he'd never seen a horse before. Everyone at Los Angeles Equestrian Center knew him. He kept the hay barn neat and tidy, dressed up for Halloween and just about anything people put on him, including a riding helmet. He ran the show, was loved by a couple dozen humans and then some. But one night, he didn't stay where he was supposed to be, tucked in the tack room, safe and sound. The city of LA is fraught with dangers, and coyotes are among them. They roam the hills and especially by the LA River now flowing with winter rains. Maybe Carl went out to dance when the moonlight peeked through the clouds. Whatever the reason, he met his fate on a Southern California winter's night. And now all those people he "owned" sit with tears and broken hearts. There'll never be another Carl. He was just too cool.
