May 1, 2025 – It’s a diagnosis that brings fear, uncertainty, and heartbreak — and it's one of the most common health concerns for dogs and cats. That’s why, from now through June 30, we’re asking for your help to donate and help fund the research that gives hope: hope for better diagnostics, better treatments, and more time with the pets we love.
Why Cancer Research Matters
Fighting cancer is a marathon. It can take decades to develop a reliable test, uncover new treatment options, or better understand how cancers grow and spread. While science moves forward, pets and their families are waiting.
We’ve been part of this fight for more than 60 years. Our first cancer study was funded decades ago—and since then, we’ve supported 401 cancer research projects to help dogs, cats, horses, and even wildlife.
What We’ve Achieved Together
Because of your support, we’ve helped:
- Develop immunotherapies and non-invasive testing methods
- Advance understanding of cancer genetics in pets
- Fund early research on trametinib, a drug now used to treat certain canine cancers
- Uncover environmental risk factors and share new safety guidance for dog owners
- Back the science behind the feline leukemia vaccine, which has saved millions of cats
And when no one else would take on a study of cancer in dogs at scale, we launched the Golden Retriever Lifetime Study — now the largest of its kind in the world, and still going strong.
