Veterinarians now have a simple tool to help educate their clients about cancer risks in their dogs – the Morris Animal
Foundation Canine Cancer Campaign Poster. The poster is available to veterinarians at no charge and can be ordered by
e-mail or by calling 800.243.2345.
The CCC poster charts the breeds most susceptible to cancer and the types of cancer that are prevalent in those breeds. Depiste research indicating cancer as the number one natural cause of death in dogs over the age of 2, many dog owners are unaware of the cancer risks that can affect their dogs. Veterinarians can use this tool to educate clients about the important role that routine veterinary care plays in early diagnosis of cancer, which is critical in ensuring a dog receives appropriate treatment and increases the possibility of a positive prognosis.
The poster also talks about Morris Animal Foundation's recently launched Canine Cancer Campaign (CCC). This unprecedented global campaign hopes to cure canine cancer within a dog's lifetime – the next 10 to 20 years. MAF is funding elite scientists throughout the world in an effort to advance treatments, assess risks, establish a tumor tissue bank for canine cancer researchers and investigate ways to prevent this disease. We encourage every veterinarian to help raise awareness about cancer and this important campaign to cure it.
