Pfizer Animal Health-Morris Animal Foundation Veterinary Fellowships for Advanced Study

The Pfizer Animal Health-Morris Animal Foundation (MAF) Veterinary Fellowships for Advanced Study address a critical shortage of veterinary scientists. By providing established scientists and veterinarians with financial support to pursue advanced scientific training, this program addresses one of the top reasons interested students don't pursue research careers: financial burden. These fellowships open the door to new careers for veterinary professionals and help ensure a future of veterinary medical advances.

How the program works:

Fellows are nominated by academic institutions. Recipients can be either practicing veterinarians returning for a PhD or professionals with PhDs who wish to pursue a veterinary degree. Each fellow receives $60,000 per year for four years for living expenses and tuition ($20,000 per year per student from MAF, Pfizer Animal Health and the academic institution).

Fellows are provided with well-mentored research activities focusing on either basic or applied research to benefit companion animals, horses and/or wildlife. As part of their training, each fellow spends 8 to 12 weeks participating in a research project at Pfizer Animal Health. Graduates must remain in animal health research for at least four years.
