Fighting back during Pet Cancer Awareness Month

PETCO and the Blue Buffalo Co. Pledge to Raise $1 Million for Morris Animal Foundation

Cancer is a terrible disease that affects millions of humans and animals. In fact, one in four dogs are affected by the condition and more than half will die from it. But there is hope and a way to fight back.

From now until May 26, for each bag of Blue Buffalo dog or cat food purchased at PETCO stores across the country, $1 will be donated to Morris Animal Foundation to support cutting-edge canine cancer research. Donations of any amount will also be accepted at PETCO registers or at www.petcancerawareness.com, so customers can contribute to the cause as much as they would like.

Last year, the two companies raised more than $900,000. This year their sights are set on raising $1 million this year. Learn more at www.petco.com/pca.

I think sometimes we forget or try to pretend cancer doesn't happen in our pets. As an owner who has lost to wonderful dogs to this horrible disease I will always be in debt to the people trying to make cancer a thing of the past in our pets.
